Brief Introduction of Priest Chen Shixing

Chen Shiliu, Taoist name Shixing, is a native of Yangxin county, Hubei Province, China. He is an orthodox exponent of Wudang Gongfu and a fifteenth generation disciple of the Sanfeng Sect.

Priest Chen Shixing loved wushu since childhood. From the age of seven, he learned Waijia pugilism. Later on, he learned that the place of origin of Neijia pugilism was Mount Wudang so at the age of eleven he set out to seek masters and ancestors and came to Wudang Taoist Wushu Centre. He was predestined to call on Priest Zhong Yunlong, the fourteenth-generation exponent of Neijia pugilism of Wudang.

Priest Chen Shixing honours masters and reveres their teachings. He is upright, loved and regarded highly by his teachers and his fellow apprentices. Mount Wudang not only allows him to learn extensive and profound martial arts, but also helps him awaken the essence of Tao. " The great Tao has no forms, it gives birth to heaven and earth"; "the great Tao has no sentiments, it moves the sun and the moon"; "the great Tao has no names, its grows all things of creation." "I do not know its name, and I reluctantly name it Tao, saying: Tao bears one, one bears two, two bear three, three bear all things of creation." The taoist martial arts are also based on this theory, giving play to life's latent potentialities so as to cultivate oneself through meditation and achieve longevity.

Priest Chen Shixing has set his determination spending his whole life studying wushu assiduously in Wudang, hoping to do what he can to develop Wudang wushu, inherit the spirit of taiji,and let Wudang wushu benefit society.

In October 1998, he was admitted to Wudang Martial Tao Gongfu League.

In April 1999, he assumed the office of instructor at Wudang Taoist Martial Arts Centre.

Over the past decade, he has in many occasions participated in international wushu exchange and competition activities. He has also repeatedly performed Wudang wushu for various levels of state leaders and international friends and has been well received by them.

From 2003, he left Mount Wudang to teach Wudang taiji and spread the Wudang spirit. In two years, he successively brought Wudang taiji into the various parks in Wuhan and Shanghai, allowing Wudang taiji to enter people's lives and strengthen people's physiques. Everywhere, he conquered people with his consummate martial arts and gained trust from the people with his noble martial ethics. He set up many large teaching centres successively, allowing more martial arts lovers to learn traditional Sanfeng taiji. He whole-heartedly strives to popularize Wudang wushu, bringing health and joy to every martial arts learner and every wushu lover, becoming a master of great learning and integrity who enjoys high prestige and commands universal respect in the minds of his numerous students.

In 2005, he self-studied assiduously for one year to raise his computer and English skills.

In June 2007, his long-term dream came true with the establishment of "Wudang Shixing Gongfu Centre" at the foot of Mount Wudang, near Yuanhe Temple.

Priest Chen Shixing is humble, cherishing high ideals in his heart and mind. "Wishing all wushu lovers may realize their Kungfu dreams and achieve physical and mental health" is his greatest aspiration and also the source of his motivation.
