The 10th Anniversary at the Academy
The 10th Anniversary Gala of Wudang Shixing Kungfu Academy with the theme of "Chinese Dream, Taiji Destiny" was celebrated on the evening of November 22nd and culminated in great success. The celebration was an unprecedented spectacle, which was lauded to go down as a milestone in the history of the traditional martial arts world. This unique showcase of martial arts celebration, synced with an audio visual effects was an extraordinary display of Wudang Kungfu.
With no expense spared on the production value by the China Central Television crew, the whole event was intimately synced between the production and performing teams. The pacing was seamless, the transitions smooth, the stage background, sound and lighting rendering effect perfect. Industry pundits were in high praise, and all wondered how was all these accomplished. The whole event launched with only three rehearsals, and Master Chen personally served as the general director and martial arts director.
The timeline from event preparation to the live broadcast lasted forty-five days, from resource allocation, script review, stage construction to lighting and media content debugging. Master Chen with his rich media experience, personally supervised the production. It was not until the last two days before the event that physical manifestation of the lengthy preparation finally appeared on the site. Despite the preparation being a gruelling process, Master Chen was focused on the outcomes, especially on the display of the 16 forms in Wudang Kungfu tradition. He made exacting prescriptions for lighting and sound to complement the 16 forms of exercise to be displayed in sync with the production team. The performer must complete an act between the transition between the pulsing lighting and the dimming of the stage effects, to ensure the seamless effects of the action pacing that achieve the best representation on stage for Wudang Kungfu. In the first rehearsal, Master Chen ran through the choreography of each scene, made corrections and improvements, though the whole morning. In the overall theme, Master Chen tried to integrate the connotation of Taiji culture into the event. His creativity and ideas put forward by his rich filming experience surprised the China Central Television film crew, especially over nuances expressed by industry insiders. Furthermore Master Chen expressed that: "Building a good stage is key for the disciples to showcase their best." This is also a big breakthrough in the martial arts industry for over a decade, and it is also a bold endeavour which the Taoist associations and martial arts industry highly approve.
